Giro d’Italia

The Giro d’Italia (Tour of Italy in English) is a stage cycling race created in 1909 by the newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport. It is considered as the second most important race of the Grand Tours of the UCI World Tour calendar just behind the Tour de France.

Like the Tour de France and its famous yellow jersey, the Giro d’Italia is categorized by its pink jersey which remembers the colors of the Gazzetta dello Sport, its foundator.

A varied Giro d’Italia with plenty of room for everyone!

For 2024, the Giro d’Italia will be a varied event, with plenty of room for all types of rider profiles, including 6 mountain stages with high altitude finishes, 4 sprint stages, 2 time trials and 5 stages for adventurers. A total of more than 42,900m of positive altitude difference will be climbed over the 3 weeks of the race, less than in previous years. Mythical peaks and finishes are in store, with Santuario di Oropa on stage 2, Monte Grappa, Stelvio, Prati di Livo and more.

Laurence Pithie: a close-knit group!

After starting the season with his first World Tour victory in the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, and a flamboyant period of Flandrian classics ending with a 7th place in Paris-Roubaix, Laurence Pithie is back in action for his first Grand Tour. He will be surrounded by a close-knit group that will enable him to express himself to the full on the sprint finishes, as well as on certain hilly stages where his versatile profile will be a major asset.
