Created in 1974, it underwent several name changes before adopting its current name in 2007. Since 2020, it has been part of the UCI ProSeries, the second tier of international cycling. The race is known for its hilly course through the Ardennes landscape, making it ideal terrain for puncheurs and versatile sprinters.
As for the recent performance of the Groupama-FDJ team in the 2024 edition: during Stage 5, Britain’s Samuel Watson of Groupama-FDJ claimed victory at the summit of the Mur de Thuin, following a decisive attack in the final kilometre.
